It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, Best Robot Hoover offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it will cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
