WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item upgrade has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the Item Level Upgrade, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item upgrader mod from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item upgrader mod is upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if those items are from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
