Many pushchairs are classified as all-rounders. This includes the iCandy Pear, Bugaboo Cameleon and a few others. They can handle rough terrain in parks and National Trust locations, but lack the off-road capabilities of real all-terrain strollers.

There are also crossover models which are a fantastic compromise between extreme off-road and street and have great all-terrain capability with large wheels and a great suspension but they're designed more in the typical pushchair style, with reversible seats and full carrycot options, so they can be used everyday. Brands like iCandy, Easywalker and Bugaboo have come up with some fantastic models to look at.

Wheels

All-terrain pushchairs are essential when you live in a rural area or take your child on regular walks over rough terrain. These models have larger wheels that are mounted on the back than normal pushchairs, allowing them to handle rough terrain better and provide a smoother ride for your child. They also have robust suspension and puncture-proof models so that they're suitable for use on woodland, grass or forest paths or gravel tracks, as well as market town cobbles.

It's suitable for children and features a large canopy that can be extended with an adjustable handlebar and a large, spacious basket.

There are excellent all-terrain pushchairs for parents who want to take their child off-road, but don't want to tackle Ben Nevis. They are the best of both.
