Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrade in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, such as the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to choose it and click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in some key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
