Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The process of upgrading an item, often referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.

Players can recycle six items at one time to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales according to their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be done through many different methods, including using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. This is the highest value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by but not the amount it will actually increase it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you are creating it for.

The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel.
