World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

item upgrading (Cctvdgrw wrote in a blog post) allows players to boost an item upgrade's gear score up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example the perfect rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't really change after an upgrade, and aren't worth it.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Some weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a group. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a gun will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgrades to weapons also change the stats of their base. While this is generally a good thing, it can have some negative consequences too. For items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them can render them useless unless you get a fortunate roll.

Items of armor can also be upgraded to boost their stats. In the case of chests or helms, this will increase the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes change its roll to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will get when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button within the item menu using the arrows that are circling. This will reroll the item and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the more health you will receive from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and in order to unlock them all, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you'll need at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in frigid conditions with a large number of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll want to work on enhancing it to increase physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have a few upgrades of the chest armor and helmets that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are bottled substances that, if consumed, give the user the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five kinds of potions that have different effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, increasing their level of effect. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.

Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be obtained by crafting them on a crafting table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion and the item's Rarity and Mark Level.

To upgrade item a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to select the potions that you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they will give you when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP total.

Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.

There were a few updates to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For instance the splash potions now have a duration of 0:08 (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display for the item). Trinkets

A trinket could be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece of jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but isn't essential, like a thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to express affection or friendship between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons and armor, as well as potions. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets, unlike other items which can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing statistics.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of trinkets that are rare.

Upgrades to trinkets are an affordable alternative to buying new ones. One can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl of the old one, and will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

Once the old Trinkets have become not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their highest priority items first. This usually means the Best item upgrader-in-slot items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other gear items that will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.

When they are no longer useful trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. Re-upgrading will destroy the trinket unless it is salvaged with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying new ones.
